Keynote Speech at the 8th European Nuclear Industry Congress 2023 by Toyoaki Yamauchi, President of IRID

The 8th European Nuclear Industry Congress 2023 was held in London, U.K. from December 4 to 5, 2023 (local time). Toyoaki Yamauchi, President of the International Research Institute for Nuclear Decommissioning (IRID) jointed online and delivered a keynote presentation at the conference.
The conference aimed to bring together companies involved in the nuclear power plant life cycle in Europe and to address the latest nuclear power market including the decommissioning and share the information.
On Day 2, December 5th, 2023, the President Yamauchi gave a talk about “IRID’s R&D Results for Fukushima Daiichi Decommissioning and Future Challenges and Expectations” at the Forum 2: Decommissioning, Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Radioactive Waste Management. At the presentation, he provided an explanation about investigations of the inside of the primary containment vessel and the results, and technologies for fuel debris retrieval and waste management conducted by IRID.
The conference was attended by over 150 delegates from mainly from European countries and they actively exchanged their opinions.
IRID will provide the information of our activities for a wide variety of people in Japan and overseas through conferences and events.
