The 18th Annual Lead Meeting: A lecture by Mr. Naoaki Okuzumi, Senior Manager of the R&D Strategy Planning Department

The Lead & Zinc Demand Development Center of the Japan Mining Industry Association (JMIA) decided to name every third year a “Lead Year”, and designated 2019 as a Lead Year. The JMIA has acted to promote a supply of lead productions under the slogan of “Know the real lead and good natural resource. Lead to the future.” The 18th Annual Lead Meeting, held on November 20, 2019, was one of the biggest events organized by the JMIA.

The International Research Institute for Nuclear Decommissioning (IRID) was present to give a lecture in the meeting. Mr. Naoaki Okuzumi, Senior Manager of IRID’s R&D Strategy Planning Department, spoke on the topic of “Status of Technological Development for Decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (NPS) Conducted by IRID.” The lecture included a status report on investigations inside the primary containment vessel (PCV), R&D of fuel debris retrieval, and the concept of safety management, specifically an overview of IRID and the robots developed by IRID.

IRID will continue to provide information regarding the R&D status of the Fukushima Daiichi NPS to various people in the future.
