Lectures by IRID Director Kiyoshi Oikawa and Deputy Manager Yasuaki Miyamoto at the German-Japanese Symposium on Technological and Educational Resources for the Decommissioning of Nuclear Facilities (April 21, 2015)

On April 21, 2015, IRID Director Kiyoshi Oikawa delivered a lecture entitled ‘Robot Technologies Developed for the Decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station’ at the German-Japanese Symposium on Technological and Educational Resources for the Decommissioning of Nuclear Facilities (sponsored by the German Research and Innovation Forum – Tokyo). Yasuaki Miyamoto, Deputy General Manager of IRID R&D Management Department, also gave a speech with the title of ‘Research and Development into the Treatment and Disposal of Radioactive Waste Generated by the Accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station’. The symposium was held in cooperation with IRID.

The approximately 170 participants who attended the symposium discussed various aspects of research and development related to the decommissioning of nuclear facilities and exchanged opinions on matters such as decommissioning projects currently in progress, dismantling/decontamination technologies, waste management strategies, and the final disposal of radioactive waste.
