The Tochigi Aerospace Conference; Lecture by Mr. Naoaki Okuzumi at the 108th Annual Workshop

The Tochigi Aerospace Conference was organized by approximately 80 private companies that are engaged in the aerospace industry in Tochigi Prefecture. The conference is intended to strengthen cooperation with various organizations and promote technological exchange. As part of the activities, the annual workshop is held five times a year, aiming at providing information on the aerospace industry and solutions to business challenges.

The 108th annual workshop was held as the first workshop in 2020. Mr. Naoaki Okuzumi, Senior Manager of the R&D Strategy Planning Department, the International Research Institute for Nuclear Decommissioning (IRID), delivered a lecture titled “Status of Technological Development of Decommissioning the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (NPS) Conducted by IRID”, providing an overview of IRID and the robots it has developed, and elaborating on the status of internal investigation of the primary containment vessel, research and development (R&D) of fuel debris retrieval, and concepts of safety management.

IRID will continue to provide opportunities to introduce the status of R&D for the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi NPS for a diverse array of people.
