IRID Presentation at the MIT-Tokyo Tech Workshop on Innovative Nuclear Energy Systems

The MIT-Tokyo Tech Workshop on Innovative Nuclear Energy Systems was held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Boston, the United States between October 26 and 28, 2017. At the workshop, Naoaki Okuzumi, Senior Manager of the IRID’s R&D Strategy Planning Department made a presentation “R&D activities for Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Decommissioning” on the status of research and development for nuclear decommissioning. He specifically covered the technology for investigation inside the primary containment vessel and for fuel debris retrieval.

Approximately 30 people, including MIT and Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) professors and students attended the presentation, actively engaging in a discussion. There were also discussions on the possibility of cooperation with industry and the two universities.
