Lecture at the National Institute of Technology, Fukushima College, by Naoaki Okuzumi, Senior Manager of the R&D Strategy Planning Department

Naoaki Okuzumi, Senior Manager of the IRID’s R&D Strategy Planning Department, delivered a lecture at the National Institute of Technology, Fukushima College (in Iwaki city, Fukushima Prefecture), titled “Current Status of IRID’s Research and Development (R&D)” on August 27, 2018. The lecture was also given at the first research briefing session in the FY2018, ‘Academic Challenging via a Network of the National Institute of Technology from Fukushima,’ as a part of “the program for human resource development based on fundamental research for decommissioning” led by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).

The lecture mainly covered the results of technological development for investigation inside the primary containment vessel (PCV) for fuel debris retrieval and for issues to be tackled in order to enable the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (NPS).

In total, over thirty people attended this lecture via a TV conference network with various National Institutes of Technology. The audience listened intently to the lecture on the technological development for decommissioning.
