IRID Executive Director, Atsufumi Yoshizawa, Delivers Lecture [at Nagoya University](June 19, 2017)
IRID Executive Director Atsufumi Yoshizawa delivered a lecture entitled “On-site Response to the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Accident and its Decommissioning” at Nagoya University on June 19, 2017 (Organized by Professor Akio Yamamoto, Division of Quantum Science and Energy Engineering, Department of Materials, Physics and Energy Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering).
This was Mr. Yoshizawa’s second lecture at Nagoya University, following the previous fiscal year.
This lecture was organized by Nagoya University as “Nuclear Regulatory Affairs Human Resources Development Project” of the financial year (FY) 2017. As part of “cultivating human resources in the nuclear regulatory to establish and ensure nuclear safety based on physical phenomena,” Nagoya University has systematically organized lectures, including discussions and exercise lessons that feature a wide range of engineering safety concepts in relation to the field of aerospace engineering. A lecture on a major nuclear accident was provided on the day.
Executive Director Yoshizawa described the response to the Fukushima accident and also focused on the essential function of cooperation between academia, industry, and the government to approach future decommissioning technologies, particularly the requirement for positive cooperation among universities and young researchers.
The lecture was attended by students, various associates engaged in the nuclear industry. The audience listened intently to the lecture on the post-Fukushima accident response, the status of decommissioning activities, and mattersto be solved.
