Small Workshop held in Co-operation with the Shibaura Institute of Technology(Sep. 26, 2016)

IRID held a small workshop in co-operation with the Shibaura Institute of Technology on September 26, 2016. The workshop was attended by about 70 people, including IRID members and Shibaura Institute of Technology students.

The workshop featured presentations on research and development being undertaken by IRID and the Shibaura Institute of Technology. Mr. Hirohisa Kuwabara, General Manager of the R&D Strategy Planning Department, presented a talk entitled “Overview of research and development conducted by IRID.” In addition, Mr. Adachi, Senior Manager of the R&D Strategy Planning Department, gave a talk under the title of “Utilization of Robots in the Decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.” Meanwhile, representatives from the Shibaura Institute of Technology described their achievements in robotic development and performed demonstrations, etc.

The workshop was a valuable opportunity for IRID to enhance the partnership with the university and promote communication with young researchers for R&D projects. IRID is committed to promoting ongoing cooperation with universities.

Date & time: Monday, September 26, 2016, 13:25-17:30
Place: Toyosu Campus, Shibaura Institute of Technology, Tokyo
Purpose: In order to advance the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi NPS – a task that may require thirty years or more – and related R&D projects, it is essential to secure and develop human resources from a mid- and long-term perspective. This workshop is intended to promote cooperation with the university and develop young talent by sharing information and exchanging opinions with the Shibaura Institute of Technology, which is engaged in some of the R&D projects conducted by IRID.
